(With apologies for cross-posting) The following is a preliminary announcement of the meeting to be held at the Maison Française, Norham Road, Oxford, on Friday afternoon, 5 March 2004 (beginning at 2.15pm) and Saturday morning, 6 March 2004 (beginning at 9.30am). A full programme will be circulated next week. Research and the internet: the case of the history of science For more than a decade, internet sites relevant to the history of science have proliferated in Europe and North America. These sites have made available a wealth of new bibliographical resources and a growing number of primary source-materials, including scientific manuscripts, correspondence, and images. The aim of this workshop is to review a number of key European projects in this area, with special though not exclusive reference to the history of science, medicine, and technology, and more generally to provoke discussion about the usefulness and historiographical implications of the ever-closer integration of electronic resources in historical research and teaching.
