Apologies for cross-posting Project Assistant required: Digital photography for e-learning resource* Fixed term contract (£1500.00) for 6 weeks, to commence 1st November 2004 The Sedgwick Museum is currently developing a new online learning resource based on the Museum's extensive collections catalogue. The Museum invites applicants for a project assistant to produce an archive of images of selected fossil specimens. The image archive will be used primarily for the purposes of the e-learning project but will also form a resource for future display and publication use within the Museum. This work provides an opportunity to contribute to an exciting project and gain experience working with museum collections. Core activities will include: * assemble and photograph specimens from the Museum's collection * be responsible for the safe handling of specimens during selection and transport to and from the photographic suite * photograph and document the movement of each specimen or set of specimens * digitally process and catalogue each image using Adobe Photoshop and database software The successful candidate should: * have some museum experience (will be handling specimens and working in public gallery), ideally 6 months * demonstrate experience of digital photography * be familiar with Adobe Photoshop or similar software * demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, and show initiative to work independently when required An interest in or familiarity with geological specimens would be an advantage, but is not essential.
