Project Assistant required: Digital photography for e-learning resource*
Fixed term contract (£1500.00) for 6 weeks, to commence 1st November 2004

The Sedgwick Museum is currently developing a new online learning resource
based on the Museum's extensive collections catalogue.

The Museum invites applicants for a project assistant to produce an archive
of images of selected fossil specimens. The image archive will be used
primarily for the purposes of the e-learning project but will also form a
resource for future display and publication use within the Museum. This
work provides an opportunity to contribute to an exciting project and gain
experience working with museum collections.

Core activities will include:

 * assemble and photograph specimens from the Museum's collection
 * be responsible for the safe handling of specimens during selection and
transport to and from the photographic suite
 * photograph and document the movement of each specimen or set of specimens
 * digitally process and catalogue each image using Adobe Photoshop and
database software

The successful candidate should:

 * have some museum experience (will be handling specimens and working in
public gallery), ideally 6 months
 * demonstrate experience of digital photography
 * be familiar with Adobe Photoshop or similar software
 * demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, and show initiative
to work independently when required

An interest in or familiarity with geological specimens would be an
advantage, but is not essential.

Letters of application with a CV (and sample of previous photography work,
if available) should be sent to:
