Although thrilled at the current response rate for the Salary Survey that was launched towards the end of September, I am aware that there are people and communities who did not pick up on this opportunity straight away.
In order to ensure that the widest range have the chance to complete a questionnaire, and therefore be eligible for the prize draw it had been decided to extend this by a further two weeks. The closing date for receipt, and for inclusion in the free draw, will now be November 14th 2004.
Please publicise this as widely as possible. The more completed surveys that we receive, the more significant will be the results from the information supplied.

Salary Guides are one tool that have the potential to change how LIS professionals are perceived and acknowledged. They are produced with several aims in mind:
In order to accurately reflect the salaries currently being earned it is crucial that we gather up-to-date information. This information must also be authoritative if it is to have credibility with employers. Hence this brief questionnaire, which we ask you to complete and return as soon as possible (before October 31st ) so that we can begin the process of updating the salary guides during the autumn.
This is one of the ways that CILIP can help you to help yourselves and colleagues. By developing informed and informative guides that are accessible to both LIS practitioners and others, we can all help change the value-recognition that is attributed to our profession.
In order to encourage as many of you as possible to complete questionnaires, towards these shared goals, CILIP is offering a prize draw. One lucky member will be given a years FREE MEMBERSHIP. Winner to be drawn from all completed questionnaires received by October 31st 2004.
