Employment Law Helpline launched for CILIP members

Exclusive deal offers access to The Work Foundation's human resources experts

CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals has launched a new service for its Members in collaboration with The Work Foundation. The Employment Law Helpline will give CILIP members access to experienced human resources practitioners who can offer realistic, practical advice on the law and personnel issues, specially tailored to individual needs.

"We're delighted to be able to offer this valuable new service to CILIP members," says Jill Martin, Director of Knowledge & Information at CILIP.  "It means that they will be able to get immediate, reliable answers to the employment issues that especially concern them.  Experts at the Work Foundation will be able to explain and explore the implications of their own particular enquiry, and suggest a 'best practice' approach to dealing with the issue they face."

The advice is free to CILIP members, and there are no set limits on call time or the number of calls made by an individual.  Lines are open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and callers will need to quote their CILIP membership number when using the service.

"Very many of our members face employment issues on which they need advice from time to time," adds CILIP's Senior Adviser Kathy Ennis, who negotiated the deal with The Work Foundation on the Institute's behalf.  "Clearly it makes sense to go to experts in the field and add this service to the range of other professional advice that CILIP already offers its members directly."

The free Employment Law Helpline is one of a range of new services now available to CILIP members through The Work Foundation.  In addition, members will be able to benefit from the Foundation's low-cost policy vetting service, to ensure that existing and new human resources policies reflect best practice.  They can also attend a range of the Foundation's Corporate Members events, including coaching and leadership workshops, and employment law seminars.  And they can enjoy a 5% discount on all room hire at the Foundation's Carlton House Terrace headquarters in London.  Access to other Work Foundation resources will be available online exclusively to CILIP members later in the year.

CILIP members seeking further information about the Employment Law Helpline should contact CILIP's Advice Service on 020 7255 0620.
