New Executive Officer for CILIP Cymru/Wales
Sue Mace will take up the post on 20 September 2004
CILIP is delighted to announce the appointment of Sue Mace as Executive Officer for CILIP Cymru/Wales, she will replace Huw Evans who left in May to take up the post of Head of Advice and Support at CyMAL. Sue is presently Library and Information Services Development Officer, a post jointly funded by CILIP Cymru/Wales and the Consortium of Welsh Library and Information Services.
Sue’s home is in Pembrokeshire, and in recent years she has worked on contracts in a number of different sectors including Information Editor for the South West Wales Information Gateway; Business Information Officer in Pembrokeshire, and Deputy Subject Librarian at the University of Wales Swansea. Prior to this, Sue worked in public libraries for over 20 years. Her roles included Senior Librarian at Fareham Library, and Deputy Divisional Librarian in Hampshire.
Her professional activity includes a six-year period as Secretary of the South West Branch of CILIP’s Information Services Group. More recently she has been Secretary of the West Wales Branch of the Chartered Management Institute, which she joined in 1997 after completing a Diploma in Management Studies.
Sue Mace said, “I am looking forward to working with colleagues throughout Wales to ensure that we develop services which meet the needs both of CILIP members and the wider information community. This is an exciting time for the library and information sector in Wales. We need to make the most of new partnerships and initiatives and ensure that the important role of libraries and information continues to be recognised.”
