In September 2004 the Department of Information Studies at the University of Wales Aberystwyth (DIS/UWA) will be celebrating 40 years since the establishment of the College of Librarianship Wales (CLW). On September 8th a special celebratory event is planned which will take place during a study school for some of our current masters distance learning students. The event will start on the Llanbadarn campus in the afternoon with some talks from key practitioners and an opportunity to visit the department and the Thomas Parry Library and also for some to visit the National Library of Wales. The event will continue on the Penglais campus with a buffet meal (with wine) being served from 19.00 in the University's Arts Centre with Ross Shimmon, a member of CLW staff in the 1970s and recently retired as Secretary General of IFLA, being a guest speaker. All are welcome... but numbers will be limited. Please book as soon as possible - and at the latest by 13th August 2004.
