UKOLUG AUTUMN TRAINING PROGRAMME

UKOLUG, the professional body for users and developers of electronic information resources, have announced their autumn programme of meetings and events at location across the UK.  

 These are:-

'Recent developments in the law: what information professionals need to know' to be held at the Faculty of Advocates, Mackenzie Building, 172 High Street, Edinburgh Thursday, 2nd September 2004, This one day meeting seeks to raise awareness and knowledge of some of recent developments of concern to information professionals in relation to legal issues such as copyright, database right and data protection but also freedom of information, disability discrimination law and legal issues in IT procurement.    The course presenters for this are Laurence Bebbington and Charles Oppenheim

Meanwhile at Netskills Training Suite, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Wednesday, 29th September Searching the Internet: Google and beyond (or "What do you mean you didn't use Google?") will be presented by Karen Blakeman of RBA Information Services.  Topics include; different types of search tools; what the search engines miss - the "invisible web; making the most of Google and alternatives; advanced search techniques; assessing the quality of the information that you find and Top 10 search tips

Two forthcoming courses presented by Martin White of Intranet Focus and both held at CILIP HQ, London are scheduled for Tuesday 19th October and Thursday, 4th November, respectively.   These are Content Management and Search Software - specification, selection and implementation and An introduction to web usability and accessibility.

All courses are priced at : £130 + VAT (£152.75) UKOLUG members; and £160 + VAT (£188.00) others.
