DCMS Consultation on Public library Standards

Many  of you will be aware that DCMS is consulting on a revised set of public library standards for England. You will find details of this consultation, and access to the documents concerned, at:

http://www.culture.gov.uk/global/consultations/2004+current+consultations/public_library_service_cons.htm

Naturally CILIP will be making a response. You should note (from the DCMS website) that public library staff are being encouraged to comment  via their Heads of Service as DCMS want to gather a corporate viewpoint from the sector. Others, including the public, can make individual written comments to the address given on their website. I would also encourage you to let me have your comments so that they can be reflected in the CILIP response. I would need such comments by the end of May at the latest as responses have to be with DCMS by 11 June 2004.

Thank you for your help
