CHANGING LIVES, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AND A NEW ARRIVAL - CILIP AT THE LiS

Join CILIP staff on stand B36 at the Library+information Show for a coffee and a chat - and meet CILIP’s new President

A new President and a new Bulletin feature in CILIP’s contribution to this year’s Library +information Show.  CILIP’s new President Margaret Haines will be meeting visitors on stand B36 at London’s ExCel centre on Wednesday April 21.  So seize your opportunity to raise the issues that concern you at the start of her Presidential year.

Also on Wednesday, Margaret will invite Poet Laureate Andrew Motion to present the 2004 CILIP / LiS Libraries Change Lives Award.  An innovative online creative writing project for young teens, a mobile library for travellers and their families, and a moving web site and CD-ROM about local people’s experiences of the Holocaust and other genocides are the finalists in this year’s competition, and the award ceremony begins at 3pm in Seminar Theatre 1.

Thursday sees the launch of a brand new International Bulletin, with news of information issues throughout the world, emailed direct to CILIP members every month.  CILIP’s International Bulleting joins CILIP’s acclaimed Daily News Bulletin and Weekly Information World as the third in our email bulletin series.  It’s just a year since CILIP launched its first two email bulletins, and we’ll be celebrating their first birthday - and previewing the new arrival - with a drink on the CILIP stand.

Throughout the two days of the Show, you can browse through the latest books from Facet Publishing - on copyright and a host of other issues that concern library and information professionals - or discuss your next career move with staff from CILIP’s INFOmatch recruitment consultancy.  With information available as well on the unbeatable networking opportunities offered by CILIP’s Groups and Branches, there’s plenty to catch up on.

If you’re a CILIP member already, we can help you make sure that you’re getting the most out of the services available.  And if you’re still thinking about joining, we’ll be able to explain how CILIP membership can help keep you informed and employable.  So join us any time on stand B36 for a coffee and a chat.  Whether you’re currently a CILIP member or not, we can show you that there’s more to membership than you think.
