Just a point of information - the British Library is glad to welcome Cilip
members, but you do need to make sure that you have ID with your address on
it (as well as your signature - which will be on your cilip card, of course)
when you come for a reader's pass.
For more details, see the BL's admissions page at:
http://www.bl.uk/services/reading/admissions.html

You can of course come and see the current and permanent exhibitions of the
BL's treasures, visit the Café, Restaurant and Bookshop without needing a
reader's pass. Even though I'm biased, I do recommend it -

Quite a while ago the British Library took over the LA book collection and
now houses them at St Pancras. This means all CILIP members get a reader's
pass to BL by showing their membership card - no questions asked. I think
this provides CILIP members with some compensation for not having a
dedicated LIS at CILIP. I cannot comment on the usefulness of the
information service now provided at CILIP premises as I have never used it.
My loss, I believe.
