Please let Kate Mulkern know that there are many people fed up of paying for the corruption of African leaders. Tell them not to embezzle the funds or to go shopping in luxury european shops. Book Aid International celebrates its 50th birthday in 2004. Its work in supporting book and library development in Africa and other developing regions of the world is well known. Less well known are the activities that go on behind the scenes to raise the money that allows this work to continue. Kate Mulkern joined BAI in 2002 and since then has been responsible for introducing a number of innovative fundraising initiatives. She will talk about these and parallel ventures being introduced in partner libraries in Africa.
