I understand that Roger Bowes is proposing the buy Aslib and that 2005 renewal notices will be issued shortly to Aslib members inviting them to renew with the "new" Aslib. The "new" Aslib will presumably not have any debts carried over from the old Aslib, and may also have entirely different governance. Current Aslib members will then have to decide whether they have sufficient confidence in the "new" Aslib to renew. I stress, however, that what I am reporting here is based on confidential information I have received and the outcome of the meeting on 22 December may be quite different. No doubt, as soon as things are resolved, there will be official communication from whatever organisation emerges to current Aslib members regarding the new structures.
