There are still some places left for the following conference:

Not just for Library Managers.....

CILIP UC&R and CofHE Joint Conference 2004

E is for Education also for Effectiveness! How to justify your Library or Information Service

Collingwood College, Durham University 5th - 8th April 2004

Personal, professional and service effectiveness are increasingly important. Library and information services across the broad educational spectrum have to continuously prove their contribution to the teaching and learning process. Justifying expenditure on resources, staffing and services is an art when, increasingly, these resources, staff and services are under threat.  The Conference theme of Effectiveness will be explored through three sub themes: Strategic Issues; Personal Skills; and Curriculum Issues. A fourth strand, Current Hot Topics will pick up emerging issues nearer, and during, the Conference itself.

A range of speakers and breakout session leaders from across the FE and HE continuum will explore issues such as advocacy, measuring the value of your Library service, the Librarian as entrepreneur, marketing Libraries and Librarians, futureproofing, peer review of FE Colleges, FE and Public Library collaboration, making your regional Museum, Library and Archives Council (MLAC) work for you, innovative induction methods, FE in HE/HE in FE, impression management, smarter working and technology, effective information handling skills, VLEs and staff development &.. and many more!

Apart from the formal conference sessions, this Study Conference is also an ideal opportunity to network with other informational professionals, reflect on one's own practice or Library, come away with a new idea or perhaps to  have time out to recharge batteries, be challenged or be stimulated. Durham is also a very attractive city for all of this to happen!

The conference will also include the inauguration of Maggie Haines as President on the Monday afternoon before her keynote address.
