Dear Jean

Re:SED

As you know I had and still have reservations about rolling out SED to all users, - a major drawback is that BL keep sending all our SED requests to the library instead of direct to  the end user, they are aware of this problem but until it is resolved to our satisfaction we view SED  as a retrogressive step.  The mail delivery is excellent and much appreciated by our users.
Eventually I do hope we can offer SED to the Academic staff and we will not discourage any student who wishes to accept the conditions imposed by SED delivery and who is prepared to use up their valuable print allocation.
However, we will rethink the offer if it proves expensive because they do not activate the link in time and requests need to reordered at our expense o, if the link fails to open regularly and staff time is taken up sorting it out between user and BL

Margaret

Dear Colleagues

Although I have asked a couple of times for volunteers to write something
about the experience of introducing SED for the FIL Newsletter, no-one has
put their head above the parapet.  However recently there have been some
e-mails on lis-ill about this, so I thought I might do a summary of them
myself for the Newletter.  So I have 2 questions

Would those of you who contributed to the discussion contact me and let me
know that this is ok with you - I can let you see my draft when I write it
if you would like so that you can comment on it.

Would anyone who would like to make further comments like to contact me to
let me know that I can include them in the summary?

I have also asked for someone at BLDSC to write something for us too and
hope that we shall be able to include plenty of information about this for
FIL members.

Jean
