Chair: Eleanor Williamson, Information Architect, Ingenta

Overview

Recent legislation and publicity campaigns have raised the profile of
the issue of Web site accessibility to a level that can no longer be
ignored by online publishers. This meeting will enable you to understand
the key issues that underpin accessibility and the legislation your
organisation will need to comply with.

The RNIB’s Donna Smillie will explain the difficulties faced by visually
impaired Internet users and how they can be overcome. Steve Beesley,
Project Manager of the Disability Rights Commission undertook a major
report on UK Web site accessibility, which will guide you through the
minefield of recent standards and legislation. Justin Cooke, Managing
Director, Fortune Cookie will describe the positive business benefits
that can be obtained by ensuring your online publishing is accessible to
all.
