The course will focus on ways to meet the challenges posed by social exclusion and reading problems and reluctance. Specific learning objectives Participants can expect to gain: ·more understanding of the impact of reading difficulties and reading reluctance ·greater appreciation of the role of libraries in overcoming them ·practical strategies for promoting reading and exploiting resources ·extra confidence when helping children and their parents and carers ·opportunities to share good practice Course leader Anne Harding is an independent trainer and lecturer. She specialises in children’s and young people’s reading and children’s and school libraries.
