Canning House
Canning House is the home of the Hispanic and Luso Brazilian Council, a
non-political registered charity whose aim is the fostering of closer UK
relationships with Latin America, Spain and Portugal. It is a membership
organisation, the major part of whose funding comes from Britain's corporate
sector; it also receives support from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,
UK Trade & Investment, the IDB, the European Commission, schools and
universities, associations and individuals.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

*       Head of Corporate Department
*       Head of Culture & Education

HEAD OF CORPORATE DEPARTMENT

Salary
£28k plus bonus, a higher salary may be available for very experienced
candidates

Role
The role of the Head of Corporate Department is to:
*       Develop and stage a programme of events on current affairs, which is
topical, relevant to members and key stakeholders and attracts sponsorship.
*       Maintain and increase the corporate membership.
*       Manage the marketing of Canning House, in particular the Website.
*       Manage Room Hire activities.
The jobholder will manage a small team and is a key member of the management
team.

Profile
We are looking for an energetic and proactive individual, with good
inter-personal skills who possesses; *  a good knowledge of the political
and economic situation of Latin America  *      graduate level or equivalent
education.
*       the ability to plan and organise events, ranging from high profile
major
events to small discussion groups.  *   the presentation and marketing
skills
to develop new corporate members *      the skill to attract sponsorship
*       the ability to manage a team and work effectively in a small
organisation
*       proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and some knowledge of
Portuguese

HEAD OF CULTURE AND EDUCATION

Salary
£22k plus bonus

Role
The role of the Head of Culture and Education is to develop and stage a
programme of cultural events on Latin America and Iberia which is relevant
to cultural members and key stakeholders and capable of attracting
sponsorship. This programme ranges from major events; such as the Canning
Cultural lecture to book launches and talks about travel.  The holder is
also responsible for developing and managing an education programme,
targeted at secondary school students, working with the Library Staff.

Profile
We are looking for an energetic and proactive individual, with good
inter-personal skills who possesses; *  a good knowledge of the culture of
Latin America and Iberia.
*       graduate level or equivalent education.
*       the ability to plan and organise events, and liaise with speakers
and the
cultural attaches of the embassies,  *  the skill to attract sponsorship.
*       the ability to manage volunteers and work effectively in a small
team
*       proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and some knowledge of
Portuguese
