Scientists at Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Inc. (BBSR) study a wide variety of atmospheric and oceanographic processes from the special perspective of a mid-ocean island. The BBSR is a U.S. incorporated 501(c) (3) 'not-for-profit' marine research and education institution incorporated in New York State and based in Bermuda since 1903. For more information about BBSR see: http://www.bbsr.edu The Environmental Quality Program at BBSR is responsible for monitoring and investigating the environmental quality of Bermuda's air, soil and water. An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified graduate or senior undergraduate intern to undertake an assessment of the program’s geographic information system (GIS) data. Specifically, the intern will: 1) thoroughly review the existing data and the data archives; 2) compile a concise set of existing data; 3) help to determine the need for and plan future GIS projects. The intern will be working unsupervised for the majority of the time and so must be able to work independently and must have experience with ArcView 3.1. The internship is for a period of 2 months, start date negotiable. Board and lodging at BBSR will be provided.
