Closing date for submission of abstracts is March 1st 2005. Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to  <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask] with conference abstract placed in the subject header. Guidelines are available on the website.

The Conference
Celebrating 20 years of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC), the theme for the first meeting outside North America will be current standards in the care and management of natural history collections. A work-shop will review the assessment of current standards, benchmarking of collection condition and implementation of base line standards for natural science collections. Two more workshops will focus on Integrated Pest Management and Risk Management. The conference will also focus on the building and strengthening of international networks.

Pre-conference Field trips will be to: 1) Down House (Darwin's home in Kent) plus visit to nature reserve. 2) The Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum, Tring; the Natural History Museum's site in Hertfordshire plus bird watching 3) The Oxford University Museum of Natural History plus geology fieldtrip 4) The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew including herbarium. 

This meeting is organised by the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections in conjunction with The Natural Sciences Collections Association, The Geological Curators Group, ICOM-CC Natural History Collections Working Group and is hosted by The Natural History Museum, London.
