The Park Explorer project website, developed by
Footmark Media on behalf of the London Parks and Gardens Trust, is now live at
www.parkexplorer.org.uk.
This HLF-funded project is a pilot aimed at KS2
pupils and currently covering the London boroughs of Enfield, Greenwich, Newham
and Wandsworth. The website contains information on parks and open spaces in the
boroughs, as well as online activities and downloadable resources for children
to use both in the classroom and in the parks. A separate teachers'
area links each activity to the relevant National Curriculum key skills and
QCA schemes of work.
After an official launch in the autumn, work will
begin with schools in the boroughs to use the resources provided and
develop new materials with the children involved. It is hoped to expand the
pilot project into further boroughs at a future stage.
