Education and Lifelong Learning Officer Ref: ES805 £16,944 - £20,469 pa We are looking to broaden our audiences through this newly created post, which will have lead responsibility for the development of educational services within three community museums. You will seek to encourage use of Walsall's museums by all sections of the community, developing a wide-ranging programme of events and activities. To help us achieve this you will prepare a range of educational resources and materials for visitors, and assist with the marketing and promotion of the service. You will liaise with schools and develop a programme of workshops, activities and teaching materials which will encourage school visits, and support the National Curriculum. Where possible you will contribute to outreach activity such as talks to community groups and guided walks. As a member of our small team you will also contribute to the day-to-day management of the service, and assist in the delivery of exhibitions. You will be a graduate with a minimum of 2 years' teaching or museum experience, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Community History Curator Ref: ES806 £24,048 - £25,911 pa This is a key post with responsibility for the management and future development of three social history museums. A major Lottery bid has recently been submitted, which, if successful, will see the redevelopment of Walsall Museum in 2004/5. You will play a vital part in managing this project. As Community History Curator you will contribute to strategic planning, and develop a lively and imaginative programme which will seek to engage with and respond to the needs of local communities. A key element within this will be the development of our programme of exhibitions and related events. Your remit will include responsibility for the management of budgets, staff and collections, including our important holdings of costume and industry. You will liaise with partner organisations, and help to promote the service to audiences throughout the region. You will be a graduate with at least 4 years' museum experience and possess or be studying for a museum studies qualification. You will have some previous responsibility for staff and project management, and a strong commitment to working with local communities.
