2 RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSTS IN MR NEUROIMAGING
PHYSICIST POST REF 264/04
IMAGING ANALYST POST REF 265/04

Two Research Associate posts are available for a period of two years from 1 April 2004 (or as soon as possible thereafter) at the University of Manchester to carry out work on a Medical Research Council (MRC) funded project investigating brain connectivity underlying the temporal lobe variant of frontotemporal dementia (semantic dementia) via the development and application of functional MRI and fibre tracking methods. We are seeking suitable individuals to fill one MRI physics post and one image processing/analysis post. The work will be carried out within a partnership between the Division of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering (ISBE), the Department of Psychology and the School of Biological Sciences. Within these centres there is access to state-of-the-art research-dedicated 1.5T and 3.0T MR scanners and extensive MR, image analysis, and neuroscience expertise.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in a numerate or biomedical discipline together with a PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline. Good computational skills and mathematical skills are essential requirements for both posts as are the ability to work effectively as part of a research team and demonstrate good communication skills.
