Sorry to snip here, reni, but could the allusion here be to Heideggerian
gelassenheit, waiting upon (not for) be-ing? Neither active nor passive but
the very ground or possibility of both.

I'm utterly new to this list having joined through an interest in Malick
fostered by Wall's article on his films and Malick's connection with
Heidegger.
