MessageI was recently asked whether costs for Brain Gym sessions could be included in the Non-Medical Helpers allowance in the DSA. Has anyone any experience of this?

I have used Brain Gym with several students concerned that their stammer might impede their performance in a verbal presentation/assessment and students do give positive feedback. In everday situations the students can control their stammer but in times of anxiety their stammer becomes more evident.
Brain Gym invovlves a series of exercises to relax the individual and empower them with the tools to take control of a situation rather than the situation controlling them.
Have they tried any form of relaxation exercise or visualisation?

Has anyone set up support for students who struggle on courses because of a stammer, or speech impediment?

There is a student here who has a stammer, and is on a foreign language course. The difficulty is that students are assessed on their verbal skills...

Any advice on suitable support would be welcomed.

    All the best,
