Thanks Bernard
It may interest others to know that I now have had responses which suggest that anything from £25 to £50 an hour might be suggested. As with notetaking, the rates of which I looked at recently, there needs to be some parity across the institutions but there will inevitably be some regional variation. Perhaps a good starting point might be 'what do we mean by dyslexia support?' , ah if only I had the time to debate this....

Dear Chris,
Perhaps you can persuade the Isle of Man authority to tell us who is
providing the bargain-rate service. Then every one will hire them.
Otherwise, you are right: our recommendations from this Centre are routinely
for a rate of 'up to £45 an hour' for institutions all over the country.

Regards, Bernard

I've just received a letter from the Isle of Man Dept of Education thanking
me for our assessment of a dyslexic student and making the following
observation and query:
"The committee request that you provide an explanation as to why you are
charging £45 per session (1:1 Dyslexia Support) which is considerably higher
than the charge we have been levied by others" I'm quite surprised by this
as we having been charging £45 for a couple of years now and believed this
to be in line with what others are charging, this is the first challenge we
have had on amount - anyone care to comment before I respond?
Grateful for any communication over this

I have a vague recollection of someone on this forum (or possibly the
JISC dyslexia version) indicating that they had persuaded powers that be
in their institution to use pastel / off white paper universally. Does
that ring any bells, and if so what were the financial implications?

Many thanks, Joel
