Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to offer clarification on the support available to students who are attending either; a Certificate in Education or Postgraduate Certificate in Education [PCET]or BA[Hons] in Education and Training at one of the universities 30+ franchise colleges in the North of England.

These courses are initial training and professional development courses for teachers and trainers in the post-compulsory sector.  The network of franchise colleges makes in-service provision for those already undertaking a teaching or training role, and it leads to an award in one of the above.

I have been contacted by numerous colleges in the North of England, enquiring about support for those students who have disclosed a disability but I am unsure as to who is responsible for providing this support.  Should it be the network colleges or the university?  As it is a foundation level course, 1 year course, are those students who have disclosed a disability entitled to the DSA?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With best wishes
Claire
