LTSN Engineering Guide to Working with Students with Disabilities

This Guide has been so successful that we are producing a 2nd edition in
Spring 2004.  The Guide was written to help engineering departments to
develop good practice in response to SENDA (the Special Educational Needs
and Disability act of 2001), which came into operation from September 2002
making it unlawful for a university, or department, to discriminate against
a disabled person.

To supplement the 2nd edition LTSN Engineering would like to commission
further Case Studies and are particularly interested in the following
topics:
*  Departmental and faculty responses to the legislation
*  How engineering departments have used the Guide
*  Assessment and disability
*  Teaching students with mobility difficulties, visual impairment, mental
health difficulties or chronic illness.

If you are interested in writing a case study please go to our website
(
www.ltsneng.ac.uk/ale/fundopps/dis_case_studies.asp) for more details and
to submit your idea.  We will pay up to £150 for each 2-page Case Study that
is published.  For more information contact
