I am led to believe that in many cases the centre that the independent assessor is allied ty covers the insurance. Not sure about the safety of that especially where an assessor works for more than one organisation. Would have thought that independent insurance such as that you seek is essential. In the past I have used a broker to arrange cover as the cost can vary considerably and be affected by the type of tradee you are, ie self employed, Ltd company, Partnership etc. and your other commercial interest. I would also suggest that the insurance covers the individual for legal costs in claims of "negligence" as these are cerrtain to form a growing part of the life of assessors and and those that supply support etc.

Subject: Professional indemnity insurance

	Hi

	(Apologies for cross posting).

I'm trying to locate a source of Professional Indemnity Insurance to
cover the carrying out of needs assessments on a 'freelance' basis. I'm
not interested in anything that is tied to membership of a professional
	organisation.

	Any suggestions gratefully received.

	Regards
