As a screen reader user (JAWS Versions 3+ and 4+), it
isn't the case that all drop down menus/lists don't
work, some are absolutely fine, whilst others won't
work well, or at all. I don't know enough of HTML/XML
etc, to be able to say what the difference is between
those that do and don't work in terms of how the
coding/HTML differs. On those that do not work, the
problem is generally either that the items are not
spoken, or that when trying to move down through the
list to find a specific item, the list 'freezes', and
just takes you to the item on the list the
screenreader is on, before you have chance to move
through the list any further.
