Hi, We don't have a health service, but do have a 'first-aid' or rest-room in each of our main teaching buildings. We have provided a student with their own key to use these rooms as required. It's not frequently used by the student, and has not so far interfered with the (under-)use of these facilities. Within the service, they have 4 beds separated by curtains where students can go and lie down if they need to while on campus. The women's area in the student union also have very comfortable couches and coffee-making facilities. I am not sure of the exact figures but I get frequent requests for this and I believe that both facilities are widely used by students with disabilities. If you have similar services on your campus, perhaps you could approach them. We have been lobbying for space for a rest room for a great number of years but space is at such a premium that we have been totally unsuccessful to date. We do not currently have this sort of facility available at the University. I am sure that this is a request that disability officers must come across quite regularly - please can disability officers from other Universities let me know if they have encountered similar situations and if they have been able to provide this sort of facility?
