I am pleased to announce that the Electronic Records Management
Training Package developed for JISC by the University of Northumbria as
part of the 09/02 Supporting Institutional Records Management Programme
is now available.
This project has produced a Training Package in the management of
electronic records in further and higher education institutions. It is
suitable for use by all levels of staff on an individual basis or as
part of a group training programme facilitated by those responsible for
records management within individual institutions.
There are several routes through the materials, and more than one
possible starting point. One starting point is the section called "Who
am I?" This is a means of finding a way through the materials from the
perspective of your job role and level of experience. For new users
there is an introductory orientation questionnaire. It will help you
understand what you know already about managing records, and therefore
which modules are useful to you.

This is just one of several sources of online advice and guidance being
launched by JISC over the next few months.
Also due shortly for release is the 'Records Management InfoKit' aimed
at people in Further and Higher Education who are new to the discipline
and need some guidelines to the issues they are facing, and some of the
techniques for overcoming these.
And finally the EDRM Implementation Toolkit being produced for JISC by
Cimtech Ltd which will provide records managers and other information
professionals with a 'one stop shop' for impartial, detailed and
practical advice of use during all stages of a proposed or actual EDRM
system.
Further details regarding the launch of both of these will follow in
due course.
