I recently renewed my MPS details. Having gone through the 8 pages or so
ticking NO to everything (no quick way I'm afraid), I probably ticked in
excess of 500 boxes.

Then, loan and behold, two weeks later I get a communication form MPS
thanking me for completing the form and filled with "special offers" I may
be interested in!

At this point I have to admit I gave up.

At this risk of digressing from the boards reasons for existence. Whilst
there are arguments about paper use and waste, be it junk mail or otherwise,
there is little, if any, effect on rain forests. Paper is made from the pulp
of softwood trees, many of which are managed under strict regulation. Rain
forests are predominantly hardwood, which are much more slow growing. If you
are concerned about the rain forests then do not buy furniture made from
hardwoods, ensure that any suites you buy are made with softwood carcasses
and not hardwood. If we all stopped to think and question where our
furniture and knick-knacks made from mahogany, walnut and other such wood
comes from before buying it, we may start to make a difference.
