Also in response to Tim I feel I must point out that as a Data
Protection Officer, I've never been in a position to say 'no'.
Normally I feel it is sufficient to point out the risk of
non-compliance, and leave it in their hands to do what they will, if
they choose to accept the risk and ignore my advice, it is their
responsibility, and you've done your job by registering your
objections.
However, purely from a Marketing point of view I always say that 'No'
is something I don't use, I say 'Yes - as long as you put in x y and z
safegaurds' If the individuals feel that x y and z safegaurds are too
much work or too prohibitative, and don't want to then undertake the
issues, that's their decision to stop, not mine.
