Prior to 2002/58/EC they were a marvellous way to add NAMES and EMAIL
ADDRESSES to a database that became increasingly poor because of it :)

The difference between a contact and a prospective person interested in
products and services is a huge one.  As such the volume of data increases
and the value decreases.  It made an amusing exercise for a marketer who had
the "more button" pressed and had no data budget.  Currently I would suggest
it was not valid.

"Out of Office auto replies are a great way to build contact lists as they
frequently give one or more alternative contact points of contact (phone and
e-mail addresses)" - Discuss the implications of such a list in light of
current legislation and recent case law i.e. Durant versus the FSA.
