1) Flying schools are not individuals. The Data Protection Act therefore doesn't apply. It may apply marginally to the contact names you are using, but your marketing would not be directed to the individual, in my view. Therefore the right to opt out under the DPA would not apply. There is almost certainly no need to get consent (assuming Condition 6 would apply), but common sense would suggest that you act on any request to stop sending the material. 2) Individuals are covered by the Act if the Data Controller is in this country, regardless of where the individuals are. But see above if the customers abroad are not individuals. Local laws would not apply unless you used a local agent to do the marketing (which is why our Regulations don't stop spam from abroad).
