I'm flabbergasted! I'd be going to see the head teacher first thing tomorrow
for a forthright discussion.

I agree it's excessive, at least in that no permission has been sought and I
presume your son is not yet of "legal age".

I would also be wanting to know what uses the fingerprints are going to be
put. They may have recognition systems in place in the library, but where
and how will the data be stored and will it be shared?

Please keep us informed.

My son has been fingerprinted by his (state) school, without our permission,
apparently so he can ID himself when withdrawing library books. This seems
to me to be an excessive intrusion of privacy, and quite unpardonable to
have been done without ever being mentioned or permission sought. What does
the list think?
