I agree with Maurice. Lord Justice Auld carries a tad more weight than the
fence sitting IC, or whatever you may wish to call the office. The
Information Commissioner is stuck by Durant, he is hardly likely to provide
guidance until it is resolved and I am sure we can all see why.
Most e-mails I come into contact with are business related and I treat them
as such - I will use them. I shall use e-mails in a risk assessed manner -
until Durant or whatever clarifies. However I will also have regard to
Privacy Statments,processing notices and the wishes of e-mail users.
We can all throw our dummy out on this one, but will it stop us using
distribution lists? I think not. Common sense(i am sure I have heard that
somewhere before?) is what we should use.
