So if I am not mistaken for the remote email service to know what the
recipient has done with the email, there must be some prog resident on the
recipient's pc?? Not sure if some tool like Spybot ought to detect the
presence of this software??

My e-mail is set to tell me when a message is displayed on the receiver's
screen and if it was deleted without being read. However, it tells me that
it was deleted without being read if the receiver has read it in the
preview box.

I've just been reading in a DMA newsletter about an email service that
purports to be able to report to you whether an email you sent was read,
destroyed, not opened, and if opened for how long. Also reports whether

was forwarded to someone else and what they did with it - all without the
recipient knowing about it.
The French have said it is illegal in France - breaches their privacy law.
Anyone know any more about this? There was an article about it in The
Daily Telegraph in May so perhaps I'm just a bit behind the times on this
one!
