That's a fairly unknowable question. You can ask what people use, but that's partly personal taste. For short-term weather forecasting, as an example, some people claim 64-bit fp is a must, others claim that after a lot of testing, they decided that 32-bit fp is OK. Same resolution models in both cases. -- greg
