Please feel free to forward the following **************************************************** SPEAKER WANTED The Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham are hosting a range of education events during the forthcoming Birmingham Screen Festival (4-11 March, 2004), including a number of screenings and workshops for GCSE and A-level students. One of the films in the programme is CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS, an acclaimed and contentious new documentary about a suburban American family who recorded their lives on home-movie, and were then torn apart by allegations of child abuse. (see www.capturingthefriedmans.com for more info) We are collaborating with Film Education to present a screening of the film for GCSE media and A-level film students on Weds 10th March, and would like to find a teacher or film specialist in the West Mids who would be able to accompany the screening with a short talk (ie, 30 mins) on some of the issues it raises about the media and voyeurism. We are able to cover expenses and a small fee. If you would be interested in taking part, please send your details to Ian Francis at the MAC: [log in to unmask] - or call 0121 440 4221 ext.247. Or if you are interested in knowing more about the events in general, send an address and contact name and we will keep you posted on the programme. **************************************************** Please remember that hitting 'reply' goes to the entire list.
