ARLIS/UK & Ireland is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2004. Its
30th
Annual Conference is now ready to be unveiled:

Through the Looking-Glass: meeting the skills challenge St Catherine's
College, Oxford 15-18 July 2004

This year's ARLIS conference offers those who work in information
provision,
especially but not necessarily in fields related to art, architecture
and
design, the opportunity to confront and manage the skills challenge we
all
face in a rapidly changing professional environment.

Speakers and topics include:
- Key Note speaker: Mary Canavan, Director of Human Resources at the
British
Library
- Nick Willard of ASLIB on Knowledge Management
- Tim Wilson from the Department of Western Art, Ashmolean Museum
- Antony Brewerton, Oxford Brookes University on Being a mentor.

As always, a range of topical issues, such as Knowledge mapping,
Teaching
skills for librarians & Web content authorship will be covered in the
workshops, and study visits and receptions at venues such as The
Bodleian,
Pitt Rivers Museum, Christchurch Art Gallery, St John's College Library
and
Garden Room and Modern Art Oxford will provide access to the wealth of
art
and design attractions in Oxford. In addition, a Trade Exhibition of
publishers and other resources will be held on Saturday 17 July.

Designed by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, and described by Pevsner as
"a
perfect piece of architecture", St Catherine's College allows delegates
to
enjoy the benefits of modern facilities, whilst being a short walk from
the
dreaming spires of traditional Oxford.

We look forward to meeting you all there, to learn, to network, and to
share
professional experiences and expertise.

Students and International delegates should also note that ARLIS offers
one
of each, a funded place at its Annual Conference.
