Hi Mark, Firstly, you don't need the web email extension in order to use email from Blackboard. We've had problems with windmail ourselves though most of them were to do with our network and firewall setups. It could be that your firewall is not allowing windmail to communicate with other mail servers (that was our initial problem) or that the server you are attempting to relay mail to is not accepting the mail relay. For more information you'll need to look in the windmail.log file in the same location as the rest of the Blackboard logs. The Administrator Manual for Bb6 says "The functionality of the Blackboard Learning System may also be expanded with the Web email system extension.", but I'm at a loss as to whether this is implying you need the system extension in order to use the email function at all, or whether it is saying that more functions are provided from the system extension they mention. (in which case, wouldn't the send email function be greyed out or removed totally?) Is anybody using this feature successfully, or is anybody seeing similar problems themselves?
