The Department of African American Studies at Syracuse University is poised to launch a Master's degree in Pan African Studies at the beginning of the fall semester, 2005. Unique, innovative, practically oriented and multidisciplinary, the 30 credit hour program is substantially different from any other nationally. It is structured around four courses, two electives, an external experiential learning opportunity and a thesis. The cutting edge curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the global Pan African experience, while imparting academic and practical skills most current in the field of Black Studies. At the end of the program, students may either opt to retain a terminal degree, or undertake further graduate work - including doctoral studies - or seek employment. The program is a perfect fit for students seeking a rare, inventive and intellectually challenging graduate experience that is international in scope and practical in orientation.
