Apologies for cross posting The brush stroke icons, or 'stick men' on the Artifact homepage have been a feature of the Artifact site since day one, but they take up a lot of space on the home page. Would this space be better used to give a flavour of what you'll find within each subject category and help you to browse Artifact more easily? Some people love the 'stick men', some hate them! Help us to make the site more useful to you and your colleagues or students by voting to keep them or delete them at www.artifact.ac.uk now! Why are we asking you to vote? Artifact is planning a re-design of its homepage along with a review of its browse subject headings, which are shown by the brush stroke/'stick men' icons. Following feedback and comments from the community and because most of our users prefer to browse Artifact, we want to make browsing as easy and intuitive as possible. It is hoped that by being able to see at a glance a list of the sub-categories on the homepage, this will help browsers to find what they want much more quickly and easily. For instance, the space the Art icon takes up may be better used to list some of the sub-categories within it: Example: ART Art Genres - Community Art - Contemporary Art - Installation Art - etc Art Therapy Decorative Arts and Crafts - Ceramics - Glass - Jewellery - etc Fine Arts - Painting - Drawing - Illustration - Sculpture and so on... If the majority vote is to keep the subject brush strokes, then a redesign will go ahead very shortly. If however, the majority vote is to delete them, they will be moved from the homepage to their relevant subject pages, so they will not be gone forever! We look forward to your vote. Many thanks The Artifact Team
