Yes, I hesitated in making the same well-made point, for fear of perhaps seeming to trivialise what has obviously been a headline issue..... Also, is it just me, or is anyone else curious to know how Archives has managed to slip back down the list to the end? If the opening sentence of the press release were strictly true, and the Council had merely dropped "Resource" from its title, then we'd still be in the middle. As we are now last on the list, are we also last in the pecking order? This may seem a small point, but in public relations, image is everything. I note that Chris Batt, co-author of the new name and Chief Executive of Resource-as-was, was in the far-off days the Director of Resource's Libraries and Information Society Team. Finally, if we are suggesting new acronyms, then I'd quite like ALMS (Archive, Library and Museum Sectors). Puts us first on the list, and is a constant reminder of our need for funding. I like to think of this suggestion as a call to alms! There is always a suspicion in business that companies which re-brand themselves are trying to recover either their sense of direction or their reputation, or both.
