Research Assistant/Research Fellow
Centre for Child Life

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a public health research scientist
to contribute to the development of the new Centre for Child Life (CCL).
The CCL is a new initiative, located within the Centre for Paediatric
Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Its overall aim is to improve the lives and
health of children by enhancing the scientific basis of policy. Its opening
programme of work includes primary epidemiological research, secondary data
analysis, systematic review, and work with policymaking organisations such
as the Department of Health and the World Health Organisation. It also has
strong links to the Population Health Unit in Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The research assistant/fellow will work with the Director of CCL, Dr
Catherine Law, to develop the work programme and take forward individual
aspects of it. The role will include seeking, retrieving, appraising,
analysing and reporting on data and information relevant to population
child health. Within these tasks there will be a focus on data analysis,
with considerable flexibility to develop areas of interest and expertise.

The postholder will have a background in public health or a public health
science at postgraduate level, and experience of research. Excellent

datasets and statistical analysis are essential.

The post is for 2 years in the first instance on the Research 1A or 1B
