ROLE:  Applications are invited for the position of Research 
Assistant/Associate in medical statistics within the Department of Social 
Medicine. The post is for two years half-time or one year full-time. You 
will join a multidisciplinary team that is investigating the validity of 
current cardiovascular risk scoring methods and developing ways of refining 
their application in primary care.

You should have a good first degree, with a relevant postgraduate 
qualification, preferably (but not necessarily) at PhD level. Experience in 
analysing large databases and longitudinal studies would be an advantage. 
The ability to work unsupervised as well as developing new ideas in 
collaboration with other members of a team is essential.

The Department of Social Medicine has an international reputation for high 
quality research in both aetiological epidemiology and health services 
research. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise the Department 
received the highest grading of 5*, indicating that a majority of its 
research is of international standard.
