MRC CLINICAL TRIALS UNIT Band 5 Medical Statistician Salary up to £22,242 p.a. inc. The Cancer Division of the MRC Clinical Trials Unit is responsible for the co-ordination of a number of randomised trials in cancer treatment. The Division currently numbers around 40 staff, including statisticians, programmers, trial physicians, and trials managers. Ideally, we are seeking to attract an individual who has recently received a postgraduate qualification in medical statistics (or a closely related subject), such as a MSc or Phd. Experience in statistical packages such as SAS, STATA and/or SPSS is essential. Excellent computer and communication skills (both oral and written) are needed as well as the ability to become familiar with the relevant literature (clinical trials and cancer). Statisticians with 1-2 years experience in the analysis of medical studies will also be considered. The statistician will work on a variety of trials under supervision of a senior statistician. Opportunities exist for methodological research of practical relevance to the work of the Unit. This appointment will be for 1 year in the first instance with a possibility of extension, salary will include Location Allowance and Central London Supplement.
