JOB TITLE: Research Assistant/Research Associate in Medical Statistics

GRADE: Grade 1B/1A

SALARY: £18,893-£22,954

BRIEF DETAILS:

The Department of Social Medicine at the University of Bristol is a leading
centre for epidemiology, health services research and public health in the
UK and was awarded the top 6* grade in the 2001 Research Assessment
Exercise. In total there are some 120 staff including about 20 medical
statisticians. The Department has its own library and excellent computer
facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a medical statistician on two
interesting and high profile projects. The first, the ART Cohort
Collaboration, is a large international collaboration studying the
prognosis of HIV-infected individuals treated with highly active
antiretroviral therapy. The second is a series of systematic reviews of the
relationship of diet and exercise with cancer. Under the supervision of
experienced medical statisticians, your tasks will include data checking
and cleaning, statistical analyses and preparation of reports. You will
need an MSc in medical statistics or a relevant discipline. You will be a
good team player and capable of working under your own initiative.
