ROYAL STATISTICAL SOCIETY WORKSHOP ADVERTISEMENT OF 13/1/04

Further to the earlier posting of an advertisement for an RSS workshop entitled Introductory Multilevel Modelling, it has been decided instead to call the workshop Applied Multilevel Modelling because this more accurately reflects a programme that is essentially about an advanced technique.

There is no change to the advertised programme content as set out below:

APPLIED MULTILEVEL MODELLING WORKSHOP

The Royal Statistical Society
12 Errol Street, London, EC1Y 8LX

Monday 22 March 2004 (09.30 - 19.30)

The aim of this workshop is to introduce the basic theory, general techniques and applications of multilevel models. Participants should have a sound knowledge of regression analysis and experience of using statistical modelling software. The latest release of the MLwiN software, version 2.0, will be used. There will be opportunities for participants to analyse their own data sets.

For those who wish to work on their own data, they should make sure that the data set is 'clean' and preferably contains only numerical variables. The data should be a standard ASCII file with a free or tab delimited format with missing values assigned a unique numerical code, or as an excel spreadsheet. Participants will be guided through their analyses by their course tutors, Professor Harvey Goldstein and Dr Fiona Steele.

The workshop is held under the auspices of the Royal Statistical Society and will be led by Professor Harvey Goldstein and Dr. Fiona Steele, Institute of Education.
